Barbanico, Rosso, Vallagarina IGT
Franco Balter so called his wine, produced in the house before building the winery, combining the names of two children, Barbara and Nicholas. Today Barbanico Lagrein is a base with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The separate wine-making is necessary to ensurethe greatest possible expressiveness to each vine. A long affinemtno in barriques followed by bottle gives the wine importance, body, great balance and maximum expression of the fruit.

GROUND: Hills of morainal origin, based on chalky rocks. Substantial amount of clay in a medium mixture weaving; a four-yearly organic fertilization is the sole natural operation made.
VARIETY: 60 % Lagrein - planted in 1969, 20 % Merlot - planted in 1991, 20 % Cabernet Sauvignon - planted in 1991
A yearly selection on the ground allows to the best choice of grapes’ composition.
VINIFICATION: Separated harvest for the three varieties, due to slight differences in maturation’s periods. Soft de-stemming and vinification in little cases with daily foulage anddelestage. Variable maturation timing (from 10 to 20 days) due to the variety and to the year. Malo-lactic fermentation, followed by maturation and refining (18 months) take place in French barriques. Bottling follows the extraction from the barriques in few months, and then bottles lie in the vinery until the end of the organoleptic panel.
